Frequently Asked Questions
What thicknesses can you laser cut?
Common sheet ranges are quoted by alloy; thick plate is case-by-case. Call thickness on the RFQ.
DXF or STEP?
Either. DXF flats help when bend deductions are set; STEP is preferred for formed parts we unfold.
Edge quality?
Depends on thickness and settings. Critical edges can be specified for secondary finish.
Small holes?
Hole size vs thickness rules apply—tiny holes may need drilling or revision.
Can you etch part numbers?
Select etching/marking available—ask on quote.
Burrs?
Deburr level agreed on PO—from light break to full finish.
Lead time?
Simple flats are among the fastest sheet ops; coating adds time.
Certifications?
Soft capability language; no blanket aerospace/nuclear claims.
Laser cutting—service overview

DFM tips for laser cutting
- •Keep hole diameter practical vs thickness.
- •Avoid sharp internal corners when fatigue matters—add radii.
- •Call grain for brushed stainless cosmetics.
- •Tab-and-slot features need clearance for kerf.
- •Mark no-scratch zones for film-protected sheets.
Inspection & QC
- ✓Profile dims on CTQs.
- ✓Hole diameter checks.
- ✓Edge/burr criteria.
- ✓Material certs when ordered.
Lead time & batch sizing
Prototype flats can be quick; large nests and secondary ops take longer. Ask for 10 / 100 / 1000 breaks.
