Frequently Asked Questions
MIG or TIG?
MIG for many steel fabrications; TIG for stainless cosmetics and thinner work. Aluminum typically TIG—project-based.
Can you hold tight assembly dims?
Fixtures help; critical faces may need post-weld machining. Call CTQs.
Weld finish classes?
As-welded, partially ground, or fully blended—agree on PO.
Distortion?
Sequence and fixtures reduce warp; large thin panels remain challenging—DFM early.
Certification / WPS?
Available when explicitly required on PO—not blanket claimed.
Powder coat after weld?
Yes—grind and prep for coating adhesion.
Lead time?
Longer than simple laser flats; fixtures and finish drive schedule.
Aerospace weld certs?
We do not claim blanket aerospace/nuclear welding certifications.
Welding & fabrication—service overview
Fabrication joins cut and formed members into frames and assemblies.
Choose welding when fasteners alone cannot meet strength or sealing needs.

DFM tips for welding
- •Provide clear weld symbols and size.
- •Allow access for torch and grind.
- •Call grind class on cosmetic welds.
- •Design for fixture datums.
- •Plan coating after weld cleanup.
Inspection & QC
- ✓Visual weld criteria.
- ✓Overall assembly dimensions.
- ✓Optional NDT only if PO requires.
- ✓Coating checks when finished.
Lead time & batch sizing
Prototype weldments need fixture time; repeating lots faster after FA. Ask for 1 / 10 / 50 breaks.
